The ADDCAR system allows you to select the Miner (from the major OEM's) that best matches your
seam conditions. ADDCAR has worked closely with the major OEMs and both parties are familiar
with the modifications that must be made on a standard continuous miner to adapt it for
highwall mining. The core design of the machine as well as the regulatory permissibility
essentially remain unchanged. The specifications for continuous miners commonly used in highwall

Required additions include: three pairs of ring laser gyroscopes and accelerometers to monitor the heading,
pitch, and roll, gamma detection system, steering mechanism, straight stub conveyor, lights, video cameras,
and modifications to the gathering head, scrubber and rub rails.
When the launch vehicle is correctly positioned in
front of the entry location, the crawler-mounted
Continuous Miner begins cutting its way into the
seam. The operator controls the miner from the
safety of the compartment on the launch vehicle.
